Welcome to Portland Estates and Portland Hills.  We are a  vibrant, active and diverse community situated in the heart of the Portland Valley in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Starting in the early 1980’s, the community was built in stages by several developers, and now has a population approaching 6,000 people. For more than 20 years PEHRA (our residents’ association) has been very active in Portland Estates and Hills with a common goal to enhance the lives of those who live here.

Spring 2022 CLEAN UP

Hello neighbours,

Portland Estates and Hills Resident Association would like to thank you for participating in our “Annual Spring Clean up”!  Although it was a damp, cool day, over 75 people volunteered their time to brave the elements and keep our community beautiful. Between over 3 locations, we gathered over 100 bags of trash littered around our neighbourhood! Thank you!

A special Thank you to Norm Steele, our Environmental Director, for organizing and managing this event that was such a great success!  Also, our Portland Estates Scout troop and families deserve huge Thank you for all their support with both managing event and bringing out a large number of volunteers. Further, to MLA Lorelei Nicoll, Councillor Becky Kent for their support.

Also, those of you who signed up as new members.  Thank you!  To all our existing members, Thank you as well! If you are currently not a member and would like to join our local resident association.  Its $10 per year, per household.  E-transfer  $10 to [email protected] and reply to this email with your information.  Your membership dues go to supporting events like our Clean-up, Easter Egg Hunt, summer fest at Birches park and so much more.  PEHRA is an active lobbying group for improvement in our community! Our trails, our gazebo, our input on traffic issues and so much more!  Thank you PEHRA!!

Join the Association

We need your membership to support our community and Residents’ Association.

Annual membership to the Association is only $10 a year per family – it supports our efforts in all of the work we do in our community.

Volunteers help improve quality of life for others. PEHRA is a volunteer association with truly dedicated volunteers that put in countless hours throughout the year. Because of the effort of PEHRA, our community is admired by other communities and considered a model residential association in Nova Scotia.

Booking the Gazebo

The public can use the Gazebo at any time but if someone wishes to plan and host a special event – like a family graduation or birthday gathering – we recommend they “book” the Gazebo with HRM. Please contact Tracy Murphy at HRM ([email protected]) for the permit. Once you have a permit, you can use the Gazebo exclusively for a period of time. Should anyone wish to use it at the same time, you can show them the permit for exclusive use.

OPEN FIRE BURNING

Open fire burning is regulated by the Province and the Halifax Regional Municipality. Before your next fire, check with the NS Burn Safe website and the HRM Website.
